Playing poker in Gothenburg

Me and my boyfriend did what they call a ”loan exhange” with our apartment last weekend. That means that two apartment owners switch apartments with each other for a few days or more. We had seen some ads in the newspaper and had decided to give it a shot. I was a bit suspicious to letting some stranger live in our apartment, but after having viewed the photos from the other couples apartment I felt excitement anyway. It looked really nice, even compared to ours. We left Stockholm at Friday noon and took the train to the Gothenburg Central station. It took some time to find our way to the apartment, but once we found it we were really pleased. It was so light and beautiful! Just as I had thought after viewing the photos. After a shower we went out for dinner at some restaurant where we had delicious sea food. Since my boyfriend loves to play poker we decided to visit the casino. My expectations were rather low, but it was more pleasant there than I had thought. I won some money playing the roulette actually, and my boyfriend won some money playing poker. However, we spent those just hours afterwards on drinks and some snacks. The morning after we slept in, and then we went to the amusement park, called Liseberg. I had assumed that spending a whole day at a Tivoli would be less amusing than when I was thirteen, but I was surprised! We had one hell of a day with rollercoaster rides, carousels, the ghost house, a great hamburger lunch and lottery tickets. We didn’t win anything, but we were fine with that since we had performed reasonably well the previous evening while playing poker. When it got dark it was time for fireworks and they were actually really beautiful. I am surprised that Gothenburg was so romantic.

On Sunday we pretty much just had lunch, packed our bags and went to the train station. We were exhausted from the two late nights in a row, and I was a bit worried that our apartment would be wrecked by the time we got home. Luckily enough, that wasn’t the case, but they had actually cleaned it so that it looked better than we had left it.

I look forward to visiting Gothenburg again, and then I am ready to hit the poker tables with renewed forces…
