Losing in poker online

Yesterday I performed really poorly while playing poker online. It embarrasses me, since I consider myself a reasonably good poker player. Also, I have been on a roll lately, and done really well, so I guess that that is the reason to why I got a bit too cocky. Usually I play carefully, since I am well aware of the dumb risks that you take when you think you are safe. But the last days I have been winning so much that I just figured I had improved my talent. Yesterday evening began with me going to RakebackLovers, where I first won about $50, before I lost them all after going All In. I mean – why did I go All In? I didn’t necessarily have to, I could afford to just fold. But it is so much pride to it too.

After having lost my money I decided to go to another poker room, where I did ok at first, but then played KK really badly so that I actually lost. I hate it when that happens – once things have started to go bad, it just keeps getting worse and worse. That is why I want to prevent my game from going bad in the first place!

From the KKs I just got cold cards, and I didn’t want to play the low ones so I kept folding. After about one hour I was so frustrated that I decided to play more aggressive and I started raising even when my cards wasn’t necessarily the best. That was a really bad move. Before not too long, I had about $150 less than when I first started playing. When I lost $40 more when I played a fairly good hand I decided to give up. So I hit the sack and felt bitter the whole day today.

Also, I feel like I need a rematch. But I should really find a better strategy for my game. There are several different kinds of poker schools online, but I don’t feel that I can apply those tips on my own gambling. And as long as I play with real money, I cannot really afford to experiment. Maybe the solution is to start to play with no money for a while, and just test every new strategy that I can think of…

Great movies

Yesterday I saw this really great movie, called Atonement. Even though I had expected that I would feel a bit down after having watched it, the result was even worse… It was a really sad, strong movie. I am of course glad to have seen it, but I wish I hadn’t felt so gloomy afterwards…
The plot reminds the audience of a classic Romeo and Juliet dilemma, set in UK in the ‘30s. Everything keeps getting worse and worse in this movie, until only a disaster remains as a result of all the lying, misunderstanding and unfortunate developments. The actors are James McAvoy and Keira Knightley, who both are really talented actors.
McAvoy’s character is called Robbie and he is probably the most innocent character of them all. He doesn’t deserve anything of what is happening to him.
I really recommend this movie to anyone that appreciates a deep film about loss, fate and hope. Have the tissues close to you though!

I also like Ocean’s Eleven, and I don’t know how many times I have seen it. The two other Ocean’s-movies are really good too.
I really take pleasure in that weird world of poker playing, glamour, scamming and gambling. Particularly when it is presented by such talented actors such as Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Andy Garcia, Al Pacino, Don Cheadle, Julia Roberts etc.
Even though there acting skills aren’t really being tested it is still good fun to see them act against each other and they do have great timing which is crucial in comedies/thrillers.
My favourite scenes is when Brad Pitt and George Clooney are talking, and also that scene when Rusty is teaching famous actors how to play poker. They really don’t learn and their poker playing is horrible.

The best film I have ever seen though, is Donnie Darko. Damn, Jake Gyllenhaal could deliver already then.  It has been ages since I saw it for the first time, still no other movie has beaten it. I keep showing it to family and friends, but they don’t seem to love it as much yours truly do.

But now I am taking a break from it to watch more movies with James McAvoy. He is such a good actor, I cannot get enough of his works.
